As the Fishery Training and Tools Specialist, Carlito is tasked with innovating new methods to support the Fishery Solutions Center’s ambitious training and capacity building programs. With projects spanning across the globe, Carlito’s work involves creating training materials that incorporate innovative techniques and technologies to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
Prior to joining EDF, Carlito worked as a consultant at various non-profit and governmental partners. This work included helping build a guide of best practices for the management of large-scale marine protected areas, and assessing the productivity and bycatch associated with North American swordfish fisheries.
Carlito holds a B.A. in Sociology from UC Santa Cruz, a Master of Arts in International Affairs from American University in Washington, D.C., and a Master of Arts in Natural Resources and Sustainable Development from la Universidad para la Paz in Costa Rica. A San Francisco native, Carlito enjoys spending time with his dog at the park, hiking on trails throughout the Bay Area, and impatiently waiting for Dungeness crab season to open.
